A Visit to Galveston’s East End

We will visit Galveston's East End Historic District and tour three private houses (construction dates range from 1868 to 1890) that have not previously been open for public viewing. All three houses survived the Storm of 1900 and were part of the post-hurricane reconstruction of Galveston. A picnic lunch from the Mosquito Café will be served in the pavilion of the Gartenverein.

Stephen Fox is a fellow of the Anchorage Foundation of Texas and co-author of Galveston Architecture Guidebook (1996).

Please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes that will not harm the floors of our hosts' houses.
