Anna Mavromatis was born in Athens, Greece, studied Architecture at the University of Naples, Italy, holds a BA (Hons), from London College of Fashion – University of the Arts London, and studied Printmaking at Glassell School of Art, MFA Houston. Mavromatis’ work showcases a variety of printmaking techniques, historic and contemporary photographic processes and traditional surface decoration. She uses textile materials, vintage repurposed surfaces, and reclaimed books.
Her studies in Architecture and work in Fashion Design permeate her creative process, evident in the resulting forms, transformations, choice of materials with special interest in their historic significance and recycling status. Her artworks are found in numerous collections around the world as well as in collections of public institutions like Harvard Fine Art Library in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Muzeum Książki Artystycznej in Łódź, Poland.
She has been recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, invited to give talks, demonstrations and workshops (Printmaking, Rice University, Houston, TX; Booklyn, Brooklyn, NY.) and her work has been included in a variety of art publications both in print and digital form.
