Jeffrey J. Kripal holds the J. Newton Rayzor Chair in Philosophy and Religious Thought at Rice University. He studies contemporary and historical mystics, eroticism and sexuality, the paranormal and the ‘spiritual but not religious’ phenomenon. As a historian who is trained in Roman Catholicism, the Hindu Tantra, and psychoanalytic theory, Dr. Kripal demonstrates a rare breadth of knowledge as he deftly takes his students and readers into new terrain. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago Divinity School.
