Sean Theriault is a professor of government at the University of Texas in Austin. His primary focus is American political institutions with specialties in congressional politics, elections and voting behavior, and party polarization. He also teaches a one-semester course on the Catholic Church. He was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2012, was awarded UT’s Professor of the Year in 2011, and has received numerous other teaching awards including the Friar Society Teaching Fellowship, a major undergraduate teaching award, in 2009. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
