Dixie Friend Gay is a nationally acclaimed artist with a prolific career that spans more than three decades. She is best known for her public art commissions, including those at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the Port of Miami, Indianapolis International Airport, Sam Houston State University, and Texas A&M Galveston. She has received multiple Craftsmanship Awards and was recognized as Texas Artist of the Year in 2003 by the Texas Commission for the Arts. Her work can be found in the collections of the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston, Rice University, the Huntington Museum of Art in West Virginia, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, among many others.
