Colin Ure was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and studied music, majoring in voice, at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Later he sang professionally throughout the UK and farther afield. In 1992, he became an artists’ manager, working for several British agencies for which he advised, developed, and structured the careers of young singers worldwide. In 2005 he was appointed as dramaturg for the Houston Grand Opera, where he lectured, wrote articles, and prepared supertitle translations. Colin now lives in Chicago, working as a freelance dramaturg.
