TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 10:30 A.M.–12:30 P.M.
DIRECTIONS WILL BE PROVIDED TO SUBSCRIBERS. LIMITED ENROLLMENT. SUBSCRIBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE IDENTIFICATION IN ADVANCE FOR AIRPORT SCREENING.
Get ready to take an exciting journey through one of the world’s most celebrated airport art programs. Public Art Curator Alton DuLaney will lead our small group on a tour at the intersection of culture, creativity,
and travel as we take an in-depth look at eight new art installations in Terminals D and E. The newest installations promise to captivate, surprise, and inspire, including the largest piece of the new collection,
Paradise (Flight, Wind, Mix), by Brazilian artist Regina Silveira. It is a visual spectacle that transforms the space, inviting travelers to pause and appreciate the artwork as they move through the airport. We will also experience major works by Carolina Caycedo, Gerardo Rosales, Reginald Adams, Lovie Olivia, Leslie Gaworecki, Marlo Saucedo, Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin, Dale Chihuly and Marta Chilindron.
Alton DuLaney is the Curator of Public Art and the Director of the Cultural Arts Program at Houston Airports. The airport collection includes nearly 400 works of art spread across three campuses. Mr. DuLaney has a BFA
from the University of Texas in Austin and an MFA from the University of Houston where he also taught courses on public art.
